Public speaking plays a vital role in our everyday existence, a skill we frequently employ without recognizing its significance.
A group of college students were tasked with preparing presentations that highlight the importance of public speaking. In this blog post, we will evaluate these assignments using the criteria they themselves presented.
Let's commence with Group 1,This team covered various aspects of public speaking, including the reasons for choosing it, the presentation process, its unique features, common presentation pitfalls to avoid, techniques for becoming an effective speaker, and strategies for overcoming the fear of public speaking.
Observing my fellow classmates apply what they had learned in their presentations was like witnessing a puzzle coming together. Every member of the group spoke with confidence and credibility. I was particularly impressed by one speaker who wasn't fluent in English but still stepped up to the challenge. To say I felt proud would be an understatement.
If I were to offer one piece of advice, it would be to encourage the use of cameras during presentations next time. It's not just about hearing the speaker; seeing them adds another layer of engagement. As mentioned in Chapter 10, engaging the audience involves multiple senses, and visuals are crucial.
Aside from that, I genuinely believe that they comprehended the concept quite well.
Now, let's shift our focus to Group 2. This team discussed chapters 5-9, which encompassed finding information, supporting ideas, structuring presentations, delivering speeches, selecting appropriate language, and using presentation technology.
Their presentation was well-structured and interactive, with everyone having their cameras turned on. It was evident that they had learned from the initial presenter's mistakes and heeded the constructive feedback from the professor. In my view, it was visually more appealing.
When comparing the first presentation to the second, the difference might not be extremely pronounced, but you can see how the second group was one step ahead and more organized.
Lastly, we come to Group 3. This group had a distinctive approach, characterized by creativity. I did appreciate their innovative ideas. However, I had some reservations about the background music, which occasionally drowned out the speakers' commentary in their presentation. Furthermore, some slides had music, while others did not. Another aspect that could have been improved was the number of group members who either didn't show up or presented on different days.
In terms of organization, I believe this group could have been more effective. Nevertheless, they delivered their message with confidence, and their presentations were interactive, featuring videos that engaged all the senses.
Ok I have it.
